The WRITER who COULDN'T play Scrabble

 

Genesis 11:7

King James Version

7 Go to, 

let us go down, 

and there confound their language, 

that they may not understand 

one another's speech.

It doesn't help that Scrabble is a word game.

And that there's an estimated 4,000 Scrabble clubs around the world.

Neither does it help that Scrabble was invented by an architect -- Alfred Mosher Butts.

I truly am wired differently.

For I'm a writer who can't play Scrabble.

Never did.

Never could.

Never would want to.

I hide, when I see people putting up the board, and taking out those tiny, wooden blocks.

I studied Architecture, but have not really embraced the field.

That probably accounts for not having a love for the game invented by an architect.

Excuses.

Excuses.

I'm just not into it.

Are you?

Are you good at it?

Am I missing anything?

Am I a complete klutz?

Perhaps, it's the scoring that I shrink from.

Anything where a score is needed, I shrink from.

I don't care for scores.

I just love the idea of playing.

No competition.

No stress of performing.

I suppose I don't have a competitive bone in my body.

I just want to play.

That's probably why I'm better at WORD play.

Words follow me, all over the place.

WORDS are my toys.

Crossword puzzles are fun.

The farthest word game I'd go for is SPELLING, at school.

For which, I received a blue ribbon once.

Somehow, I found Spelling enjoyable.

And quite easy.

Studying the KJV Bible was also quite easy.

SPIRIT made it easy.

Only because I've embraced the LORD, as born again.

That, honestly, made ALL the difference in the world.

And now, I DEARLY LOVE His WORD.

My learning zoomed to great heights.

True knowledge was given.

Peace reigned.

All of us have different gifts.

Just not Scrabble, for me.

I do have limitations.

Except, I could SPELL, and that's for the next post.

GOD's chosen VOICE box

 

Exodus 3:9-10

Who do you think GOD speaks to, when He has something important to say?

Apart from angels, who does He choose to represent Him on earth?

First, observe how GOD is.

With kings:

Proverbs 25:2

2 It is the glory of God 

to conceal a thing: 

but the honour of kings 

is to search out a matter.

With prophets:

Amos 3:7

King James Version

7 Surely the Lord God will do nothing, 

but he revealeth his secret 

unto his servants 

the prophets.

Romans 16:25-26

25 Now to him that is of power 

to stablish you according to my gospel, 

and the preaching of Jesus Christ, 

according to the revelation of the mystery, 

which was kept secret 

since the world began,

26 But now is made manifest, 

and by the scriptures of the prophets, 

according to the commandment 

of the everlasting God, 

made known to all nations 

for the obedience of faith:

If prophets weren't God's voice, kings would not have sought them.

Prophets were of invaluable help when kings need to choose leaders, or successors, to help de-code their dreams, or to help them understand God's commands, or rebukes.

Mostly, GOD sends His prophets to WARN kings, and their subjects.

Whether they followed God's prophets, or not, was a different story.

Here's a partial list of who have been sent:

GOD chose prophet Moses, to warn the Egyptian pharaoh.

GOD chose prophet Ahijah, to warn king Solomon.

GOD chose prophet Elijah, to warn king Ahab.

GOD chose prophet Samuel, to give the ungrateful people the king (Saul) they asked for.

GOD chose prophet Samuel, to anoint David as king.

GOD chose prophet Nathan, to rebuke king David of his sin.

GOD chose prophet Jonah, to warn the king and people of Nineveh to repent of their wickedness.

As always, GOD has the LAST WORD.

Which is the spiritual order of things.

The CITY where BORN AGAINS live

Hebrews 11:10

I sure know where I live.

I've been there the past two years.

And my life has blossomed.

Immeasurably.

Under the GRACE, and GUIDANCE, of the HOLY SPIRIT.

WORDS DANCE in my HEAD

 

2 Corinthians 9:8

King James Version

8 And God is able to make 

all grace abound toward you; 

that ye, 

always having all sufficiency 

in all things, 

may abound 

to every good work:

Ever noticed, the word "abundance", has "DANCE" in it?

Betcha didn't know that.

Or that a dancer naturally has GRACE?

And if you dance with GOD, you will be filled with His GRACE.

Words dance in my heart.

All because SPIRIT fills my heart.

Surely, He was watching out for me, as I grew up.

He created me to be fascinated with words.

I took note of EVERY written, or spoken word, I came across with.

I hungered to read so much.

Words kept calling out to me.

They practically danced in my head.

People say I have brightness in my eyes.

What I didn't tell them was that as we chatted, words came streaming forth.

All on their own volition.

My mind was so BRIGHT with WORDS.

One word spoke volumes.

When I became born again, I only cared to know GOD's WORD.

The Bible held my complete attention.

I threw all other books.

God is completely in my heart.

You can be sure, the words dancing in my head, are OF GOD alone.

You can be sure I share SCRIPTURE alone.

Everything I write -- since I became born again over two years ago -- is BACKED by Scripture.

For GOD has my back.

WIRED for WORDS

 

John 1:1

King James Version

1 In the beginning was the Word, 

and the Word was with God, 

and the Word was God.

Welcome to my 32nd blog.

SPIRIT and I call it "WIRED for WORDS".

Only because words are my toys.

I can't seem to stop.

They practically just spill out of me.

Where others scrounge for words, words follow me around.

As far as I can remember, I read everything on sight.

Anything with the written word.

Labels.

Books.

Medical literature.

Recipes.

Instructions.

Manuals.

Names.

Everything where a word danced around.

Calling to me, to pay attention.

Which, of course, I do.

I read two romance books each day in high school.

Hiding it under the table, as the teacher droned on.

And never got caught.

Or if they'd noticed, they let me be.

For when they looked for someone to recite, oftentimes, I'd wing it.

And got away with it.

But please, no Shakespeare.

I have nothing against the bard.

I plain like plain language.

But GOD had the last say.

One day, so many years from my youth, He took pity on His erring child, and made me born again.

That ought to stop me reading useless books.

All the while, ignoring HIS BOOK.

Whadyamean, I'm not reading HIS BOOK?!

So, God made me born again, and I was never bored again.

Not only that, He took my thinking to the next level.

READ KJV.

He knew I could get it.

And get it, I did.

Strangely.

The non-Shakespeare reader, became a King James reader.

Same era.

How crazy can life get?

And I seemed to understand it all.

As if, it was second language to me.

What can a word-lover do?

Write.

What can a GOD-adorer do?

Write about GOD.

What can a Bible student do?

Write about Scripture.

And all the treasures therein.

All at the same time studying, sharing, and playing.

Enjoying GOD's WORD.

And taking His WORD for it.

I can't be anything else.

God invented the WORD. 

He is the WORD.

The WORD is the beginning.

The WORD is all that will remain.

Isaiah 40:8

8 The grass withereth, 

the flower fadeth: 

but the word of our God 

shall stand for ever.
